Peace Lily

Spathiphyllum sp.

The Peace Lily is a fantastic tropical indoor plant both for their attractive features and ease of care. These are fantastic plants for those who aren’t too confident with plants.

Keep the soil moist but not waterlogged by watering at least weekly in the warmer months, and easing off when its cooler. But don’t worry. Your Peace Lily will let you know if you’ve forgotten to give it a drink: the foliage will start to droop, but once fed will pop back up very quickly. If leaves start to brown at the tips this might also be a sign to keep watering more regularly.

When the flowers are wilting and nearing the end, you can cut the stem to promote new growth.

Peace Lilies are happy in most lighting conditions and locations within the house, apart from in direct hot (and late afternoon) sun. They are also very resistant to pests and diseases.

During the growing season, use controlled slow release fertiliser for good health and to promote growth and flowering.

They are great air purifiers and humidifiers too, effective in removing formaldehyde, benzene, carbon monoxide and other nasties from interior air.
